Joining
The invite opens Discord in a new tab. It is the only thing on this page that leaves grouplab.org.
It goes to https://discord.gg/jY7MrYNN5V.
Discord is a third party service. It has its own account requirement and its own terms, and it is not run by this project. Nobody has to join it to use GroupLab or to get help. The support address reaches the same people, and GitHub issues are the place for anything that should stay on the record.
What is expected there
The server's rules are the first thing you will see there. In short, so they are readable before you join rather than only after:
- Be civil. Disagree with the idea, not the person.
- Use the channel that fits the subject. Long side discussions belong in a thread.
- No firearm, ammunition or component sales, trades or transfers.
- No load data handed out as safe to copy. Say what you observed, and let people work up their own loads from published data.
- No advertising or self promotion without asking a moderator first.
- Safety is not a joke. Muzzle discipline and range rules get discussed seriously.
- Post only images that belong to you. Anything posted there can be seen by anyone.
- No personal information about yourself or anyone else, including addresses and anything that identifies where someone shoots.
- English in the public channels, so moderation can keep up.
- Moderator decisions stand in the moment. Appeals go to a direct message.
A photograph of a target can carry the place it was taken. Take the location data off it before posting, or send it through the submission page, which strips that before anybody sees the file. Nothing said on the server is legal advice, and no part of GroupLab is.
