What this screen is for
Everything else in GroupLab measures what your rifle did. This works out what it should do. It takes the rifle and load you have already recorded, asks for the air it will be shot in, and gives you drop, wind drift, velocity and energy out to whatever distance you name. Nothing here changes a marking or an analysis.
What you are looking at
- Units. Imperial or metric, for this page.
- Rifle and Load. Chosen from what you recorded on the equipment screen. The fields below fill themselves in from those records.
- The rifle. Sight height, zero distance, barrel twist and its direction. Twist is what lets it work out spin drift.
- The load. Muzzle velocity and its standard deviation, ballistic coefficient, drag model and the atmosphere the coefficient was measured in, bullet weight, length and diameter.
- The air. Temperature, station pressure, altitude and humidity. Leave the pressure empty to take it from the altitude.
- Keep these on the records. Writes what you have typed back to the rifle and load, so you do not type it again.
- Dope table. To what distance, and in what steps. Work out the table fills the chart.
- Drop, Wind drift, Velocity, Energy. Four views of the same trajectory. The chart marks your zero.
What you would do here
- Choose the rifle and load.
- Fill in anything the record is missing; the page names the field when it cannot solve.
- Set the air, or leave the pressure empty and give the altitude.
- Set the distance and step, press Work out the table, and switch between drop, drift, velocity and energy.
Where it fits
Takes its inputs from equipment. It does not feed back into a marking or an analysis.
